Alex co-founded The Running Charity after growing frustrated with the lack of strategic sports for development in the homelessness sector. Alex has over a decade in the homelessness sector and over 15 years in sports for development. Alex is in charge of the charity’s development, staff and partnerships.
James co-founded The Running Charity after a friend past away after a substance overdose James found solace in running and wanted to see how his passion could support others in need. James was integral to The Running Charity foundation, development and values. James’ inspirational attitude to do good for people has seen him work around the world.
Mark joined The Running Charity from the NHS where he worked as a volunteer manager. Mark also has an extensive back ground in youth work having worked in the homeliness sector for over a decade. Mark is in charge of the management of our delivery staff and increasing our impact with volunteers.
Lucy joined The Running Charity as our fundraiser having volunteered for over two years. She brings a wealth of experience in fundraising as well as a strong academic back ground with a MA in Media and Communications. Lucy is in charge of securing the funding needed to deliver our impact, she also looks after all our wonderful fund raising runners.
Claude was a member of The Running Charity pilot programme, after graduating Claude became a volunteer helping deliver sessions. In 2015 Claude became The Running Charity’s first programmes officer he now is able to use his experiences to help even more young people. Claude is an inspiration to the young people and everyone he meets.
As a senior partner at PwC, Zubin leads a high-growth technology business. Previously Chief Restructuring Officer and Group Strategy Director of Thomas Cook Group PLC when the business faced a number of challenging problems, as well as a restructuring partner for ten years at PwC where he lead companies and lenders through a number of high-profile restructurings and company rescues. Zubin has also been a keen runner for most of his life.
Laurie is Head of Fundraising at Age UK. Bringing over 13 years of senior experience in the charity sector, Laurie has led multi-million pound fundraising teams and has built income generating partnerships with a diverse range of UK and global businesses. She has extensive experience in delivering and raising money from mass-participation running events and is herself a keen runner. Having grown up in the North East of England, Laurie’s favourite running event is the Great North Run.
Matt is Head of Digital at ad agency WCRS where he is responsible for digital strategy, social media, data and influencer marketing. He previously set up the UK’s first social media marketing agency. Matt has helped Alan Sugar choose an Apprentice, the Mayor of London include the voice of Londoners in policy making, and the BBC to understand the impact of social media networks. He runs half marathons and marathons (although the latter with less success).
Adam works in financial restructuring and debt advisory within PwC’s Business Recovery Services team. He is a qualified chartered accountant and has previously spent several years working in the firm’s Assurance practice where he focussed on a range of FTSE 250 clients. In his spare time, Adam enjoys taking on endurance challenges including Ironman and ultramarathons.
